One of the joys of loudspeaker design is in finding new components which exceed the performance of any others in their range, to give the customer the best possible musical experience for the price. Although System 1 is the lowest cost system in our range, it succeeds in every way in giving musical excellence and superb bass performance.
BASS PERFORMANCE
Every Walls of Sound system has twin bass units per channel. In this case, a superb new 8" aluminium cone driver is used in pairs, giving the same bass output as a single 11" unit per channel, or one 15" Subwoofer. The rigid aluminium cones act in pure piston mode up to their crossover frequency, ensuring very linear behaviour, and used in pairs dramatically reduce the distortion and compression that would otherwise occur in a single unit. The unique way in which we adapt our bass units to operate in their cavity wall location also ensures minimal phase changes, and very deep bass.
MIDRANGE CLARITY
Taking over from the Bass drivers for the critical midrange frequencies, this superb new 5" unit has been featured in many High End designs, and has won accolades from around the world for its low distortion and clarity in the midrange area. The unit has a very low resonant frequency, far below its operating range in this system, and low inductance which means extended high frequency performance.
HIGH END HIGH FREQUENCIES
Another superb new design, this Dimple Dome tweeter has set new standards at this level for performance, with very low distortion and frequency response on axis to 30Khz
CROSSOVER: 2nd Order Linkwitz-Riley Electrical, 4th Order Acoustic (Mid/HF).
BAFFLE SIZES
BASS- two per channel, 35CM x 35CM each
MID/HF- single per channel-37.5CM x 26CM.
PERFORMANCE:
FREQUENCY RESPONSE- 28Hz- 25KHz on axis. Bass response may well be better, depending on room size etc.
