Designing the Sound To and For Your Room
The sound of your Loudspeaker system is more affected by your listening room than any other factor.
The sound within a room will be affected by its shape, size, furnishings, flooring, and fabrics. No conventional loudspeaker, designed and built in a factory, can accommodate these differences.
This being the case, placing the same system in different rooms is almost guarenteed to produce two entirely different listening experiences
To produce quality sound over a wide sound frequency range more effectively, speakers typically split the entire audible frequency range into smaller chunks that are handled by specially designed drive units. Quality loudspeakers will typically have a woofer (for low frequencies), a tweeter (for the high frequencies) and often a midrange drive unit. To dedicate each drive unit to a particular frequency range, the speaker system first needs to break the audio signal into different pieces - low frequency, high frequency and mid-range frequencies. This is the job of an electrical circuit known as the crossover.
A well designed crossover for normal “High End “ loudspeakers is optimised in a laboratory by engineering it in such a way that the frequencies produced by each drive unit do not interfere with each other, thereby optimising the overall sound reproduction performance - but only in a laboratory.
For the first time, Walls of Sound has taken a different approach, measuring the sound in your room, and then designing each crossover to match . As no two rooms are the same, and very few are symmetrical, so no two crossovers should be the same either. Even in a stereo pair, the left speaker often requires a different crossover from the right, because of different room reflections between the left and right hand side of the room. What works in one room will not work in another. With Walls of Sound, each crossover is bespoke to the room and the speaker it is designed for.
Through a combination of state-of-the-art drive units, the very latest professional speaker design software, the perfect loudspeaker housing (your wall cavities!) and crossovers engineered to match the exact requirements of your room and your listening preferences, Walls of Sound is able to provide a unique and unrivalled quality of high fidelity sound reproduction performance. Not only will the sound be reproduced in the way in which it was designed to be heard, but it will be done without a sound system even being apparent in the room!
