| THE PROBLEM-LOUDSPEAKERS & ROOMS |
|---|
History The founder of Wals of Sound, Stuart McGill., began designing loudspeakers as a hobby from the age of 15. However, a visit from an interior designer over 10 years ago forced the realization that large box loudspeakers and wires are incompatible with beautiful rooms, so the search began to find a better solution, one which achieved a quality of sound at least as good as the finest box loudspeakers, and one which was aesthetically acceptable to the lady of the house. ROOM ACOUSTICS It is universally accepted in the Hi-Fi world that the most important element in the sound of any Hi Fi system is the room itself, yet until now, loudspeaker designers were unable to take this critical element into account. Every room sounds different and even similar shaped rooms with different furniture and furnishings can sound very different. Recent studies have shown that room acoustics can add or subtract 15 dB to the sound you hear at different points in the audio spectrum, which rather makes a mockery of flat frequency response in anechoic chambers. The ultimate loudspeaker system can only work at its best when room acoustics are built into its design, and as every room is different, the ultimate loudspeaker requires that it be designed in the room it will be used in. |
THE SOLUTION We believe that the ultimate loudspeaker is one designed in the room is is to be used in, using the room acoustics as an essential element of the design. So we come to you, and measure your room and its acoustics with professional loudspeaker design and acoustic measurement equipment. We then use the measurements as critical data to input to the final design. This also includes listening with your own ancillary equipment to achieve a sound which you are most happy with. The result, after 10 years of research and development, is a range of loudspeakers which we believe stand comparison with any in the world, and which, due to our unique in-room design system, will give you an unrivalled. quality of sound. |
